Conversations with Jimi 19: A family affair

February 3, 2014

Conversations with Jimi are generally a glimpse into the very odd place that is my mind. This edition is no different, except you get to delve into the hilarity that is our marriage too. This is a short one and I thought about holding off for TMI THURSDAY. I love this one because it shows how perfectly paired the wifebot and I are.

Set the scene: We were on the couch watching some TV. A commercial comes on for (I don’t even remember really) CSI or NCIS or CSI:NCIS:LMNOP or whatever.

I know it wasn’t NTSF:SD:SUV::

(that show is funny though)
(watch it)
(thank me later)

So this commercial comes on and it’s all dramatical and all.

Commercial: WHAT IF IT HAPPENS TO ONE OF YOUR OWN. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ONE OF YOUR FAMILY GOES DOWN.

Kat/Jimi (complete unison and both thrusting hands toward respective crotches): YEAH GOES DOWN!

It must be hard (yeah baby!) to see what we have and not be totes envious.

The one where I’m Daddy Warbucks

June 9, 2011

The following post is sort of a TMI Thursday. I mean if it was true it certainly would be TMI for you dear readers. This (if real) would be a glimpse you’d really not want. I should clarify this DID actually happen but at no point was it serious. It was one of those things I come up with to mess around with my lovely wife.

Recently I decided to undertake the mission of cataloging all of our books. We have a ton of them—one of them is ‘The Cleveland Creep’ by Les Roberts—which I will be discussing on here soon. The wife has a bunch of Anne of Green Gables books. I knew this. She also has a TON of craft books. Then I came across: The Anne of Green Gables Treasury.

Me: The Anne of Green Gables Treasury? What the blue blazes?

Her: Don’t you make fun of Anne of Green Gables!

Me: No, no of course not. (I look inside.)

Her: You better not.

Me: What the…is this a book of Anne of Green Gables themed crafts?

Her: Yes.

Me: Wow.

So I of course tweeted about it. That’s just what I do—allow you to glimpse into our marital bliss. A few minutes later I decided I’d go in the bedroom and mess around with her. As I made my way I changed my mind, and settled on a kiss on the cheek instead.

(How sweet am I?)

Just as I reached the doorway she calls out: “See! Look at the support!” That was when the previous plan switched back on. She sat on the edge of the bed and I came in and spread out on my stomach next to her. She showed me the support.

Me: One person doesn’t mean a thing.

(I rubbed her back.)

Her: No, don’t touch me you jerk!

Me: You’re a big fan of Anne of Green Gables huh? I bet I know what you’d like.

Her: Ha!

Me: Now, is that anyway way to treat me?

Her: Yes.

Me: Oh come on Anne. I’m sorry.

(Rub her back.)

Her: What?

Me: Relax. What you’re feeling is natural Anne. (Kissing her elbow and arm.) You know you like Daddy

Warbucks doing this—oh wait that is Annie isn’t it?

Her: What the hell is wrong with you???

Daddy Warbucks: What?

Her: First off sick and second off that is NOT Anne of Green Gables.

Daddy Warbucks: I know I said that. Fine who would Anne screw?

Her: What?

Daddy Warbucks: Anne who would she get it on with.

Her: Gilbert I guess but he’s her age.

Daddy Warbucks: Well that is a dumb name. I think Daddy Warbucks should be allowed—yes actually Daddy Warbucks came to Green Gables on business. He likes what he sees Anne.

(Kiss her arm again.)

Her: You are gross.

(I get up to leave.)

Daddy Warbucks: Fine I’ll take my leave for now. I will return later to see if my little Anne—wait—that make it sound like you are underage. Young Anne—there because you’d be of age—Daddy Warbucks would bide his time till you were—

Her: What the hell is the matter with you?

Daddy Warbucks: You’ve upset Daddy young Anne. I shall leave but when I return I hope you are a little more shall we say loving. You don’t want to cross the Warbucks!

Her: Get out of here you sicko!

(Warbucks exits.)

A little bit later I returned.

Me: Hey honey…

Her: What?

Me: Now is that any to talk to your Gerald? He’s come to sex you up.

Her: Who?

Gerald: Being coy isn’t always sexy Anne.

Her: You mean Gilbert.

Gerald: Who the fuck is Gilbert?

Her: The dude in Anne of Green Gables is named Gilbert.

Gerald: Gilbert? What a weirdo. That’s just as bad as Gerald. You are forbidden from ever reading or watching Anne of Green Gables ever again!

Her: …

(Gerald/Gilbert exits.)

For the rest of the evening I peppered her with sexual innuendoes involving Anne and Daddy Warbucks. She’s a lucky woman.

The one with a glimpse

March 9, 2011

So I’ve decided to give you a glimpse into the daily jimi.

It will not be pretty.
Trust me.

Sort of like this:

Photobucket

That doesn’t normally happen. It was part of the Halloween process.

Moving on…

The alarm goes off (generally) at 6:30 in the morning. It sounds like the warning alarm on army bases or spaceships in movies.

I tell the wife it’s 6:30 and it’s time to get up. Depending on the day she’ll either get up or roll over. This is when I let her sleep for another 7 minutes and the alarm blares again. I once again tell her it’s time to get up.

Now this time she actually gets up and either says she hates the world or me. Sometimes both of these things happened.

I stay in bed as gets ready. Sometimes I manage to stay awake until she leaves. On these days she gives me a kiss and we say our goodbyes. Other days I fall asleep and she probably hates me.

When DSN (Digital Sports Network—shows on the internet) was actually broadcasting I’d wake up at 9 am. On these days I’d listen to the show and troll (in the nicest and most awesomest of ways) the chat room. It was a fun creative process that I won’t explain here because nobody ever seemed to get my explanation.

It sort of results in the “oh haha” type answer.

Now that DSN is on hold I wake up between 9:15-9:30.
(Go on hate me if you want.)

It usually involves me waking up with my ass straight up in the air and my face smushed against the pillow. There are almost always big red sleep marks on my face. If you’re thinking of a “gay sex dream” joke save em the wifey has plowed that field already.

WAIT what?

I meant the jokes not actually you know her rogering me in the bum.
Uhm moving on…

So I wake up and of course before anything put water on to boil.

Gots to get my coffee on.

Then I sit down and check my email. Now this is a process sort of done with one eye shut. I open it hoping to not see some form rejection letters. These days they are piling up from publications and possible employers.
It’s at this point (or possibly earlier) that Carissa has hit me up on gchat with WAKE UP or some other witty way of saying that.

(ClevelandPoet@gmail.com if you too wish to tell me to wake up or you know chat.)

I try to scribble some notes or decide what will be worked on (writing wise) that day. When the coffee is ready I try and sit down and tackle my google reader. Some of you are probably on it and I will tell you know when I click it and there are already like 15 of you with posts I curse you. These days I can barely do 2 in a row and you all make me look bad.

Part of the problem is mine are so story based on what is happening and what I’ve done. Since losing my job those stories have tapered off because honestly I don’t do anything now.

AnyFeelingSorryForMyself after reading and sipping on my coffee the job search usually begins. This is where the day usually goes to shit. I had been trying to tackle some writing first. I learned early on the job search/application process really drains me. It ruins the writing on most days. I’d do a couple hours of writing and then the job search.

As it dragged on and I freaked out more I switched it around. It really has destroyed any thorough writing. I was worried though—still am. So I search first and for longer than I actually write during the day sometimes.

This pains me but yet it happens continually.

Did I mention since the chaos of protest began in the Middle East I do all this while watching/listening to Aljazeera English?

Well I do. I’m enthralled by it. I can’t stop. It inspires me and has led to more writing than I’ve been use to as of late. Also it’s led to some fucked up violent dreams. I mean like hours and hours of the coverage would be playing on my computer as I went about my day.

Around 2pm I’d remember that I hadn’t eaten all day and scrounge up some food.

Sometimes (more lately) I’ll search for a bad movie to watch. Recently: Killer Barbys vs. Dracula, Zombie Honeymoon and Lure: Teen Fight Club and (painfully) Zombie Bloodbath

Why?

Because at the B Movie Brigade we watch it so you don’t have to. Zombie Bloodbath is up and the others will be soon.

(Cheap plug)
Also what happens!

I suffer through these bad movies and take detailed notes. These notes have a very detailed key to make sense of them. If you were to look at the notebook it’d be gibberish.

(What else is new?)

Sometimes after some more writing I take a nap. I did this a couple time while listening to Aljazeera English and that was bad idea. We can substitute a nap with going for a walk. This was always a highlight—until winter really hit. I still try to go for at least a short walk during the day.

Then yoga.
Sometimes naked.
The wife likes that for some reason.

She’s never here for it is probably why. At 5 the day swings into more of a sports watching mode with some work on writing thrown in. There was a point or at least a joke I wanted to have thrown in here at the end. The only problem is it has slipped my mind

Jokes on you I guess.

The one with Hoth

January 11, 2011

I think (before we proceed) we need to take a moment and appreciate the fact that I’ve written three posts about this trip and it’s still the first night. Hell we haven’t even reached my friend’s place yet. It is a skill folks.

(It is.)

So after single handedly saving the life of the two women in the stuck truck we were on our way. Music blasting we drove around the city. Everything was clearing up or so it seemed.

(dun dun dun.)

We crossed over the bridge and right into a mini traffic jam. It seems there was a big ole semi stuck (well unable) to make a turn. This would also become a theme of the trip too. A truck a day was stuck or stopped or just generally in our way. I’ll set the scene up for you. This big ole semi was trying to make a left turn and not able to make it full around the bend. He kept trying, failing and then backing up to try again. It may have been the snow. It may have been the steepness of the turn. It may have been there wasn’t enough honking to give him the extra turbo around the corner.

We turned down that side street before it was obvious we would not be going anywhere. Then were quickly pinned in when several others came behind us. Don’t worry they quickly took up the honking slack and he was soon able to push on.

(No he wasn’t.)

The honking and light flashing commenced. Finally we made it through this and were on our way to Bensonhoth….er I mean Bensonhurst.

(I can use the same joke as many times as I like!)

Besides it did resemble the ice planet of Hoth. Just as we were on the verge of truly understanding the scope of the Ice planet he decided he needed another starbucks fix. Luckily for him (not really) there happened to be a drive thru 24 hour one right around the corner from where we were. Despite R2D2’s warning bleeps he made the turn. I could see the famed Cyclone ride that no matter how boring has its name attached to many a thing. Ah the gateway to Coney Island. It looks uhm quaint.

(Yeah we’ll go with quaint.)

Poised to make a u-turn to easily access the starbucks we were confronted with a mini wall of snow. Instead we drove onward to the light and turned around there. As we neared the entrance we could see that it would not be easy (at all) to get in there. Our fearless Sulu was determined to get his expensive caffeine fix and plowed into the entrance. This of course led to us being stuck.

He maneuvered: Nothing.
He shifted: Nothing.
He talked to Brynhildr: Nothing.

I got out to push. Just as I did one big ole 4×4 truck pulls up behind us. Can you guess what they did has I pushed? Yep they honked. I trounced around in the snow to give it another push. They honked again and then drove crazily around us and into the parking lot. As I’m still pushing they blow past us. They laughed as they exited. Finally I got us free and we pull in and around only to find it closed. Of course. They can only keep the doors open so long. They can’t keep waiting for Han and Luke to return it’s starting to freeze.

Star Wars FTW!

Oh right so we continue on our way. We enter his neighborhood or what was left of it. There were tons and tons of snow piled everywhere. There were cars just parked anywhere they could find. Hello Mr. Snow bank. Hello Mr. Stuck Car. The blocks were inaccessible. Not only because of the snow (unplowed) roads of the blocks but because snow was plowed into a blocking wall in front of the blocks. It was crazy. I’m still pretty sure the reason Manhattan was so clear was they pushed the snow over to this neighborhood. His block was totally blocked off. It was clear we’d have to park elsewhere and walk. So we drove.

AND DROVE.

Then we drove some more. There was nowhere to park. Nothing accessible at all. We began to get desperate. There was talk of parking in Manhattan and taking the train in. Then he came up with a worse plan. He (in our desperation) decided we’d just park anywhere (stuck or not) and leave it there. I mean after all there was no way they were plowing with all the cars littering the streets. His first choice wasn’t too far from his place. The problem was it was literally just this huge bank of snow. The idea being just drive into till stuck near the curb. He did. We made it nowhere near the curb. We got 2 tires into the snow mountain and that was it.

Time for me to Hulk up I guess. I got out and pushed forward. Nothing—a whole lot of nothing really. I got back in. We decided to push it back out of the snow trap. A feat easier said than done. I pushed and pushed. We dug (with our hands) a bit. Froze and pushed some more.

The whole time there was wave after wave of people walking and driving past us.

Photobucket

That crude paint job was pretty much what it was like. After about 15 minutes or more of being stuck I broke out a few extra herculean pushes. We were free but of course had nowhere to park. We drove some more.

Finally desperate again we decided the abandoning type of parking was the best bet. This time we found a better place. It was pretty much triple parked but we were in and not too stuffed in snow or other cars. It was a bit of a walk so we only really took what we didn’t want to leave behind. You know to be stolen or impounded. I had this huge bag so I just took what I thought I’d need. I stuffed pants and a shirt for the next day in my messenger bag and we were on our way. I had my messenger bag around my shoulder, then my computer bag and finally my camera bag. It was cutting off air by the time we made our way down the snow covered street. We navigated the snow blockade and even the icy sidewalks. The home stretch was behind us. My conversed feet were frozen but there would be warmth and relaxation soon.

This is what we arrived to (click for full horror):

Photobucket

Photobucket

And after walking and weaving through this we arrived to his door:

Photobucket

See those holes in the snow? Yeah that is us. It was high and not heavy so we sunk right on down. We finally get in and upstairs. Shove off our coats and sit. Of course at this point we realize we have no alcohol at all. That night was a reason to drink if there ever was one.

The one with the lettuce

October 28, 2010

Hello kiddies. It’s time once again for us to delve back into the gross and disgusting. This TMI Thursday happened last night. It usurped the TMI post I had planned to write about. Today would have chronicled the making of Brownaconda: Dead Duck but that can come next week.

No today’s post is by special request by the wife.

It's A Trap Pictures, Images and Photos

I know this. I know it’s a trap. How? Well the reason she wants me to post this is she wants it to shine a bad light on me. She wants all of you to be on her side. It also proves how funny she actually feels it was, and it really was.

Last night was the Cavs home opener. It was a blast. I of course went with (and thanks to) the rizza. We pre-gamed at Cleats because the beers at the Q are 7.25. There we had 2 miller lights and a shot. I guess the blood work that was done earlier helped the buzz because my head was nice and warm when we left. From there we cheered our asses off for our Cavs. They won! This is not the point though. We shared 2 beers. To celebrate we all went to get a drink after the game.

The wifey and I headed home and to our chipotle salad bowl dinner. We watched an episode of HIMYM as we ate. Then we just sort hung around with the tv on. She of course was staying up too late yet again. When she finally decided to head off to slumberland I was still enjoying the remnants of my buzz. I sat on the couch and she straddled me. That’s right.

BOW CHIKA BOW BOW

Finally another TMI sex post. No I’m just kidding. It was just time for a kiss or two, or so I thought. Instead she started to shake my head and face whilst talking to me like I was the cat. She flipped her fingers on my lips to cause the blub blub blub sound. Then a kiss on the cheek and lips and a hug. Soon it was back to the above face shaking.

She is a weird one.

Then one big kiss right on the lips. Hold it. Hold it. And then she opened her eyes wide and held the kiss. Staring creepily into my eyes with her lips on mine. At this point I could feel a piece of lettuce in my mouth so as pay back I pushed it out of my mouth and onto/into hers.

I then said “did it..” when she freaked.
“Yeah it worked! I was hoping that would happen!” But she flipped!

I mean FLIPPED (Probably rightfully so but still it was funny.) Now to be fair I was not attempting to put it in her mouth but you know hey that happens right? She like jumped off and ran off. She ran off through the hallway yelling gross the whole way. Right into the bathroom she went. She started putting water in her mouth and spitting out.

She started to brush her teeth furiously and then even gargled. The whole time she was telling me I was gross and that I was sleeping on the couch. Which only made it seem funnier. I was going to say sorry but she was making me laugh. Then for a second she cracked a smile but then in an ultimate actress stunt began to over exaggeratedly gag.

Exaggerated gag.
Exaggerated gag.

And you guessed it exaggerated gag. We got in bed and she claimed she’d never ever get the thought of it out of her head. It would haunt her for the rest of her life.

Over exaggerated bed gag. (bow chikka bow bow)

Finally she calmed down as she lay in bed. I told her this was too funny not to TMI. She said that I should because then you all could see how disgusting I was, and be mad at me too. This morning I decided I’d rather do the Brownaconda post but she insisted I do this one.

I still maintain it was funny.

What I learned from last week

October 25, 2010

What I learned from last week:

I’m working on a piece for here that simply refuses to cooperate. So until then a short little review thang. Mostly I just wanted an excuse to show the picture at the end. Enjoy bitches!

I like to get glassware. Well to be fair I already knew that. Let’s just say it was reaffirmed. It was Cleveland Beer week and many of the events gave away glasses.

I have a problem with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. This was also not too much of a revelation but as of late I find myself changing the station when they come on. I’ve even groaned one time. It is not that I don’t like them—well at least I did like them. I dunno. I just change em right off the bat now.

I miss painting my nails. Sort of. It causes such a stir still. It just sucks having to take time to do it. It does help me avoid writing though.

God has a sense of humor or irony. The other day in the spirit of spirit day (haha get it) I painted my nails purple. T o show my support of the lgbt (or anyone actually) anti bullying campaign. Not an hour after that I went for my daily walk. Not even 20 minutes into the walk I got heckled by some guy.

Painting your nails makes you “some sort of faggot” See above.

Dracula (1931), Bela Lugosi and Dwight Frye will trump college football. I was going to watch the 2nd half of scheduled college football games but then saw Dracula was playing. Yeah I missed some football for the time it was on.

That I can be ninja like. This may come as a surprise to those of you who have seen me but it is true. Whilst visiting the former employer (to see people I like only) I proved it on more than one occasion. There were former higher ups that I did not want to deal with and each time they came near me my hood was up in a jiffy. Or I was dipping and bolting behind things and it was all avoided.

I still dig meeting people I’ve met because of twitter. Two more off the list: @Q104Rebecca and @BrewersDaughter

That I want halloween soda!

Photobucket

Jones Soda co. makes it and it be tasty, but of course I’m on a diet.

Photobucket

The above hat was one of the best buys ever. Ninja Turtle hat FTW

Wow I didn’t really learn anything of consequence did I? Shut up! You learn anything last week?

The one where I should cut n paste

August 23, 2010

Before I fully get started a bit of business. I want you to head on over to the B Movie Brigade to check out the latest Monday’s Maniac by yours truly. Follow the brigade on twitter @bmoviebrigade!

With that done shall we recap one another?

Don’t worry I’ve been tested.

Well Friday you can read about it in this post from Saturday. It’s quite a fun post.

(I can’t actually back that statement up)

Saturday like most of the previous ones included a whole lot of sitting down and doing nothing. The wifey dropped the car off to have it checked out for the 3 shillelaghs big roadie to Key West. This caused some great concern and some anxious moments. News came back of what needed to be taken care of and now we wait to see how much it is.

Ah waiting is so fun isn’t it?

Anyhatewaiting I watched some nice soccer yet again. I really should just start cutting and pasting these things.

Can you say phone it in!

After the EPL match I managed to get some writing in. The MIL (I need to give her a nickname because MIL makes me want to type MILF and well I won’t be going there) wanted to take me to dinner as a late b-day dinner. We headed over to the Aladdin’s for some grub. Sticking to (and getting back on track with) the diet I had a Shish Kabob salad. I ordered it with the Tahini Yogurt Dressing (like always) but with a side of the Zesty Sweet Tomato one too. I had been interested in trying that one and felt it was time to pull a “do it already jimi!” It was a delish meal. Here is a pic snapped before devouring it:

Photobucket

Looked exactly like that except more like an actual salad and less like a man with veggies on. Plus you know like not at all. That is from ATHF by the way. If you don’t like that show I will break up with you.

Like seriously.

We had a nice long talk with ILM (In law mother) which was cool because it’d been a while since we had one. Plus you know I don’t turn down free stuff.

Afterwards we (wifey and I) went back home and I planted myself in front of the tube to watch the Browns pre season game. Watching lead to this exchange:

Disclaimer: I don’t normally yell at pre season games.
Me: Oh come on jeez!
Wife (from other room): What?
Me: Sports.
(She made me institute a rule of saying sports after yelling at the TV so she knows nothing “real” is wrong.)
Wife: See this is why I hate you watching football.
Me: Why?
Wife: You yell so much.
Me: I yell at soccer.
Wife: No you don’t
Me: True. NOW SHUT THE HELL UP I’M WATCHING FOOTBALL*

*That didn’t actually happen. Don’t send me anymore emails about my wife leaving me angry email sender it hurts my feelings**

**It doesn’t actually.

We then headed over to the Capitol theatre to see “This is Spinal Tap.” Oh man there is nothing better than seeing a movie you love on the big screen and for 5 bucks. That was at midnight. When we got home and settled down it was about 3 am and we hit the hay.

Sunday started off as one big fail. First I woke up about 10am to a wicked headache. Then the cable remote wasn’t working. Once I got that taken care of the TV wouldn’t work right. Finally I got all 3 to obey me.

Soccer time yeah!

Then a trip to Aldi’s which was only worth mentioning because of the young kid there. He was walking around pointing this like lollipop necklace thing at people going:

“laser. Laser.”

I do believe he was shooting people (including the wife and I) with it.

Awesome and funny.

Of course Sunday was time for the finally Marx Bros movie being played at the Cleveland Cinematheque. Good time as always. Watch em bishes (and you thought you’d get away without me using that!) cause they’re great.

Once home we settled in together to be romantical. Syfy was showing Predator 2 and we snuggled up. Okay actually she was cleaning up around the living room but we snuggled up in spirit and soul. Interesting note: It stars Maria Conchita Alonso who we saw in The Vagina Monologues.

She found a card from me that had this in it: ‘I wouldn’t change what we have for all the tiny magical gnomes I could fit into a suitcase.”

I dropped some poetical shit on you bishes (haha 2 now!) with that line there.

Hope you had a good weekend and feel like telling me about it. DO IT!

the one with blood and people in shopping carts

August 3, 2010

Another weekend comes to an end and it’s time to get back to the grind of the work week.

Haha. Sorry I had to do it. I hope your work week in general isn’t too bad.

My grind continues to consist of making sure that I’ve applied to at least 2 places. This is usually what Monday is. I make sure to find at least 2 jobs to apply for. I continue looking during the week but Monday is the at least 2 for that week day.

I’m sure you all are very happy to have learned that information.

Anyunemployment the weekend was a fun one. It started on Friday (as they often do) with a trip to the Grog Shop. We were going to support a friend’s brother’s band. The band is Mos scocious who apparently was voted best local band in Chicago. I only had to hear this fact about 600 times from various sources. Whatev. They were good. A little too feel goody for my usual taste but they were fun.

They were good to listen to and pretty catchy. They also had a decent stage presence which is something that some of the bands sorely lack. I was very happy to go because it had been way too long since I’d been to the Grog. The wife and been recently but not me. I miss it and this summer is a long way from the summer of the Grog we had with the rizza a few years back. So it’s been a while.

There was a new girl and the jack and ginger she made me was well it was very weak. As we chatted and drank Marty came over to see if we needed anything. The wifey told him no but I said “order me another I’m going to chug this.” He laughed and started to make one. I told him it was because she made it rather weak, he laughed again and made it nice and strong. Which of course meant the new drink was way STRONG. Yeah! Actually the bartenders at the Grog are some of the best in town.

Anywhiskey the opening act played to maybe15 people. Most of these were at the bar and most of them didn’t pay attention to the opener. It was just one man, and he was rapping. He wasn’t too bad. I feel bad because I forget (and lost the note I wrote it on) his name. His rhymes were not too bad. Even if one ended with:

“I’m so large I’ll stretch your womb.”

I meant to tell him I dug his stuff and see if he had a twitter or Facebook but after he disappeared into the backroom I never saw him again. Before the show we went over to the doghouse for some hot dogs, because the wifey napped/read until it was time to hit the show. It was tasty as always. It was good to sit outside on Coventry and eat. People watching at its finest—though unfortunately didn’t get any good Overheard Conversation bits.

Did I just start in the middle of the night and then travel backwards? What is this Memento?

Saturday was a day of two halves. I woke up at about 10am to find no paper. Now this is most likely due to the bank taking forever to give the plain dealer their money. After some coffee the wife and I sat down to address her dying computer. We were on the phone for like 3 crazy hours with Dell but all in all it finally got taken care of. It really doesn’t deserve that much of a space as the fun things.

Later that day we headed over to the Cleveland Cinematheque for the next installment of The Marx Brothers. This week it was Horse Feathers. This fine film came out in 1932.

Funny as the Marx Brothers always are. The wife enjoyed it—and I’m hoping this new found enjoyment changes her opinion of Duck Soup. Lindsay, the wife and I then went to Cafe Tandoor for some dinner. It was delish. The wife and I shared the Butter Chicken, Baingan Bartha and some garlic naan. The time was filled with laughter and that is always good. The wifey I spent the rest of the night in watching some tv and doing some reading. I was in sort of a somber mood but nothing major. We ended up staying up till like 4 in the morning.

Sunday the big day was here. My lovely Kat and I were headed to the Nautica Pavilion for PWO Wrestlelution 3 event. Yeah we went to watch some wrestling. Can you guess who the one who wanted to was? I gave her the option of just dropping me off but she declined. So onward we went. The event started at 3pm and doors opened at 2. We arrived at exactly 2 because being poor I only bought general admission tickets.

It was sit where you can and we scoped out some decent seats. You could see well from pretty much anywhere. We sat and chatted and what not. When Raven walked past us and took a seat at the merch table. There was simply no way I could pass up seeing my all time fav (and greatest heel of all time) Raven and so we headed over. As we waited in line Hacksaw Jim Duggan approached to much fanfare. Now as wrestlers go he’s not my fav or all that amazing of one either, but I grew up watching him. As people said “hey” shook his hand or said “hoooo” (he’s known for belting out hooooo) I tried to stay my ground. I told my wife I was trying to keep my cool and not mark out or get all excited just because of childhood nostalgia. The wife egged me on because she was concerned I’d regret it. Regret will be a topic of a post soon, but not today because I was doing things not regretting them for a change. I calmly shook his hand and said Hi. That was all that was needed. I was in line for the one I needed to meet and chat with: RAVEN!

Raven:

Greatest heel of all time Raven

And then me trying to keep my cool later on.

It was awesome. I got to meet him and talk for just a bit (read about 3 sentences from me and 3 from him) but it was enough. I tried my best not to totally bumble and blather. The event went for about 3 and half hours. By the end the wifey was sort of cranky because she was hungry and tired. But she sort of enjoyed and I know she did. During the main event M-Dogg 20 v Johnny Gargano for the PWO Title, the two tore the place up (literally). They went all over the stands floor and ring. It was a great match and there were several times kat said this:

“No no no. What are they crazy?”

Here are some pictures:

We went from here to a nice dinner at Mi Pueblo and then a quiet night at home.

the one where we cram it all in

July 20, 2010

Thats what she said!

There are a lot of bloggers out there that post a weekly recap of their weekend. It usually involves going to a lot of cool places with their friends. I am not one of them. Mostly because you know I like to make shit up.

That and I don’t really go out partying it up on the town. We do a lot of stuff. We like to celebrate the things to do in Cleveland and there are a ton of things. There are slow days for us and then there are times where we go to a play, dinner, a concert and a movie in one day. If need be we just cram it all in.

That’s what she said.

This weekend was one of those times. Friday there was what the kids are calling these days a “tweetup”. It was called the east-side tweetup and was held at the Willoughby Brewing Company. We were invited and you know went and stuff.

Oh was that not good enough? See I’m bad at this. The Three Shillelaghs headed over to Willoughby Brewing Company. Hilarity sort of ensued. I was still sort of limping. The pain in my heel had mostly subsided by then. We parked and then started walking toward the restaurant. We didn’t even get across the street when the wifey’s (kat clearly) flip flop broke. The back part just fell right off. Just as she walked it fell off and as she marveled about it and tried to walk on the rest of the shoe died. We walked on discovered it was further than we thought went back and got the car. Drove to it found there was absolutely nowhere to park and ended up parking right by where we originally did. She had to basically walk with the shoe in her hand the whole way and then fake like it was on to get inside.

The night was cool and met some new peeps which always a good thing. I wasn’t that impressed with the menu (though did not have anything) and the apps were expensive. The jack and ginger was tall and that good. The waitress was pretty awesome even if she got sort of busy and there were a few times I sat there like this:

‘more jack daniels please”

But you know more desperate sounding. All in all a good time was had. After we left we stopped and got us some Chick-fil-A. Yum.

Saturday was such a full day that the wifey made an itinerary. I never actually saw it but I’ve heard it did exsist. The Three Shillelaghs packed the car and headed on down to Akron for the:
National Hamburger Festival

Yay.
It was so hot.
(how hot was it)

It was so hot that on the way there a minivan caught on fire. Okay so that probably isn’t true. A minivan was on fire on the opposite way as we drove to Akron though. It was hot as all get out while at the festival that consisted of a bunch of places to get hamburgers for a 2 block radius. I was sort of disappointed by it. I mean it was cool and all but it lacked stuff. The only merch were shirts and Jughead comic books. A vast majority of the events seemed to be taking place at night and we’d have to be gone way before then to keep our schedule. I was going to attempt to be in the bobbing for burgers contest but oh well.

There was this:

That’s right there was a Barney Fife look alike walking around the festival. How awesome is that? Also as we approached he yelled out:

“I’m Barney Fife bitches! What mofo wanna take a picture with me?”

Ok not really but I almost asked him if he would. Later he threatened to arrest us if we tried to sneak back in. The burgers were tasty and the one we got was from Steel Trolley Diner. Their banner said get your burger branded. I ordered the Marley Burger: A ½ pound burger topped with Jamaican jerk sauce and Orange chipotle mayo. It was tasty and they indeed did “brand” your burger. Unfortunate (or hilarious) they have std as their initials.

Yes my burger said STD on it and I still ate it.

We left there and went home to nap for a little bit. Then we hit up the Cleveland Cinematheque for Animal Crackers. After some Marx Brothers brilliance we ate some Aladdin’s and then hit up Parnell’s Pub for some x-mas in July. It was for Thirsty Dog’s 12 dogs of Christmas Ale. Tasty! Then I had one tall Jack and Ginger. From there we headed over to the Capitol Theatre to see the late shift showing of Memento. It had been a while since I’d seen it and I really looked forward to it. On the way there the wife tried to destroy the happiness that is the Marx Bros. by saying they were probably very unhappy. This discussion went up until the movie started and included several other people getting involved. Then I won tickets to see the late shift showing of Pulp Fiction.

Sunday was a more relaxed. The wifey headed over to her mom’s house to do laundry and thesis work. I stayed home wrote some and watched soccer for a bit. Then I watched George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead. It was decent. I was preparing for Monday’s viewing of Survival of the Dead. Later that night we went to a new Indian Restaurant called Indian Flame. It was delish. A review with pictures will be written soon as we go a second time.

Monday we went to breakfast and then picked up Lindsay. We headed over to the zoo to enjoy free day. It was pretty sweet even if it was packed and my heel was hurting again.
The wife and I on the Australian adventure train:

It was fun but got weird when the driver said:
‘Oh my mate lookit the kangaroo ova there. Ain’t she a beaut? Why I’d like to stick me little dingaroo in her pouch. Boomerang bitches”

All that but you know with an Australian accent or you know probably not at all.

We encountered a lady wearing leggings that looked like jeans as jeans. It was not pretty and I wasn’t fast enough to snap a picture. Later on the wife and Lindsay marveled at the Rhino’s dong.
After that we went home for some resting and lunch. I almost set the apartment on fire. I forgot the package my Sammy was in had metal like shit inside and yeah it started to burn in the microwave. After a nap that did nothing for us we headed out to see Survival of the Dead which was pretty good.

Damn I’m tired.

the one where we go boom

July 4, 2010

Or maybe just drink and eat hotdogs. All three sound good. All of them are American things to do. Possible ways to celebrate:

Watch the Greatest American Hero marathon on Syfy channel.
Paint your face red white and blue.
Tell a girl “your a real firecracker”
Try not to get your hand blown off by fireworks.
Watch some guys making hits with a baseball bat
and watch some baseball too.
Hide in the bushes and jump a British fellow when they aren’t ready. (Guerrilla warfare bitches!)

Way not to celebrate Independence Day:
Stealing my Sunday paper like a total douche nozzle!

Enjoy the day. Have fun and be safe. If you don’t celebrate The Fourth of July I’m pretty sure Hulk Hogan will kick your ass!

Photobucket

Take your vitamins and say your prayers bitches!
