5 things I look forward to in September

August is coming to a close and that can mean only one thing. Time to look forward to all the things September will bring. That’s right gang we’re grabbing our crystal balls, jumping into the DeLorean and heading into the FUTURE.

Roads where we’re going we don’t need roads. And now:

Five things I’m looking forward to in September.

New Job: This kind of speaks for itself and will probably pop up in next month’s too. I realized something about my job (I smell a new post coming) and what I’ve let it do to me. Like I said more on that later.

Fast Times at Ridgemont HighSeptember 5th: Yes the 1982 “coming of age” comedy from Cameron Crowe. Of course almost every month there will be at least one of the Cedar Lee Theatre’s cult movie series on here. It follows a group of high school students growing up in southern California, based on the real-life adventures chronicled by Crowe. Stacy and Mark are searching for love, and are helped along by their older classmates. The center of the film is held by Jeff Spicoli, a stoner and surfer who faces off with the resolute Mr. Hand, who is convinced that everyone is on dope. The flick which is quite funny is chock full of appearances by future stars including Sean Penn, Eric Stoltz, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nicolas Cage, Anthony Edwards, Phoebe Cates, Forest Whitaker, and Judge Reinhold.

Adventures in Babysitting—September 19th: Another offering from the Cedar Lee Cult Movie Series. Chris Parker is a high school senior that gets stood up by her date. The only thing she can do now is babysit Brad, Sara and their annoying sex fiend neighbor Darryl. When her friend Brenda is trapped in a bus station, Chris has to travel out of the suburbs to the big city. While there and with a flat tire, Chris, Brad, Sara, and Darryl get caught in the middle of a mafia deal because of a Playboy magazine. Will they ever be able to get back to the ‘burbs? Cleveland Browns vs. Minnesota VikingsSeptember 13th: Now we all know that in all likelihood the Browns season will be painful to watch but a new season always breeds some excitement. Ignoring the fact that with my luck I’ll probably have to work during it I’m still looking forward to it. Why? First things first I’m a rabid Browns fan. I’ll watch because I apparently like to suffer. The second reason is because I can hope beyond hope that the Browns defense will wipe the field with Bret Favre. With his on again off again retirement he went from annoying to I really hope he fails. It was easy to cheer against him last year because he was on the NY Jets—who I hate. I don’t know how it happened but going to a team I don’t care about either way hasn’t increased the cheering against him.

Oktoberfest—Sept. 4th – Sept. 7th, 2009: BEEEEER! Is there really anything more that needs to be said about that? I’ve always wanted to take part in this and this year I will. Who cares that I’ll be going to the one in Berea and not Germany? Beggars can’t be choosers. It only cost 8 bucks! Get more info at: Oktoberfest
